History of the Lake Ariel Fire Company

The Lake Ariel Fire Company was founded in 1916. Located in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, the company maintains three stations and seven pieces of apparatus. We serve roughly 6200 citizens.

The primary station is located on Route 191 in Lake Ariel, with substations at the north gate of The Hideout on Avoy Road and at the South Canaan Township Building on Route 296.

Lake Ariel's protection area includes Lake Township (except Maplewood); the southern half of South Canaan Township; and the entire Hideout Community
(a planned residential community consisting of approximately 3,000 single family homes)

Any person who is 16 or older and lives in or around Lake Ariel, or who owns property within this area is eligible to apply for membership. Following the completion of an application form and a background check, the application fee of $10.00 and the annual payment of $5.00, prospective members will meet with the Trustees of the Fire Company to discuss their interest in the fire service. We accept applications for firefighters, fire police, and members to assist with fundraising, administration, and property maintenance.

The general membership meetings are held on the first Monday of each month and all meetings begin at 1930 hours. The Relief Association meets on the first Monday of each odd month with the meetings beginning at 1930 hours. In those months the general membership meeting directly follows the relief meeting. In the event that the first Monday is a holiday, the general meeting is held on the second Monday of the month. All meetings are held at the Lake Ariel Fire Hall, Route 191.

Every Wednesday we hold training sessions. Training begins at 1900 hours and usually concludes at 2100 hours. Training is held at the Lake Ariel Fire Hall unless otherwise announced. The second Monday of the month is for driver training. Work details are on the fourth Monday of each month, and if necessary, the fifth Wednesday of the month. Work details may be scheduled on an as needed basis, in the case of fundraisers.
